Gomoa-Nyekuadze (C/R), Jan. 20, GNA - The chief of Gomoa-Nyekuadze, near Gomoa-Oguakrom in the Central Region, has reiterated his warning to people in and around Nyekuadze against bush burning, particularly during the current harmattan period.
Nana Enukumah was addressing an emergency development planning committee meeting at Nyekuadze at the weekend to device measure to accelerate development in the town.
Nana Enukumah charged all citizens to join the national crusade against indiscriminate bush burning by group hunters, smokers, and farmers.
He asked group leaders in the area to educate the people on existing laws that deal with bushfire offenders, adding that anyone caught infringing the law would be severely dealt with.
Nana Enukumah announced that special fund raising harvest would come off at Nyekuadze on January 29 to generate funds towards the completion of self-help projects in the town and advised non-resident citizens to attend and contribute their quota towards the development of the town.
He said although non-resident citizens had done a great deal in recent years, there was still more room for them to contribute to enhance the advancement of the community.
