Dadieso (W/R), July 25, GNA - The chiefs and people of Omanpe, a major cocoa producing area in the Aowin-Suaman District, have expressed gratitude to the management of Samartex Timber and Plywood Company for assisting in the development of the community.
Nana Gyanin 11, Chief of the area, told journalists that the company contributed to the rehabilitation of his palace and constructed the Adjoum-Omanpe road at a cost of 13,000 Ghana cedis.
He said the company also spent 3,000 Ghana Cedis on the extension works of the Omanpe market.
Nana Gyanin said for the past three years Samartex had nursed over 350,000 tree seedlings per year for free distribution to farmers in its catchment area for the rehabilitation of degraded off-reserve forests.
He also commended the company for training farmers in the area in bee keeping, snail rearing, piggery and fish farming under the Alternative Livelihood Income Generating Programme.
