Chief condemn attacks on 'porno girls’

The palace of the paramount chief of the Gulkpegu traditional area has called on the people of tamale to be circumspect in their comments on the sex scandal that has rocked the metropolis.

According to the palace, nobody should be threatened or banished from Tamale.

It called on stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection, to help the ladies and stop the harassment in these trying moments.

“What the ladies need now is counseling and not condemnation,” it observed. The palace revealed that even though the act was despicable, it was wrong for some persons to incite residents against relations of the said ladies.

It called for cooperation with the security agencies to find the culprit behind the circulation of pictures and videos.

At a news conference at the palace to state his position on the matter, the secretary to Gukpe Naa, Alhaji Alhassan Abdulai, tasked parents to interrogate the activities of children and wards after school.

He reiterated the need for the public to offer support to the said ladies and rather condemn the person, who purportedly stole the hard drive of Kharmil in his bid to blackmail him.

The secretary appealed to the security agencies to do everything possible to arrest those behind the circulation of these pornographic pictures and bring them to book to serve as deterrent to others.

The Gukpe Naa condemned the entire act, indicating that it must encourage traditional and religious leaders in the city to come together to fight against moral decadence in the society.

Mohammed Rashad Abdulai, the secretary to the Gukpe Naa, in an earlier interview with Tamale-based Zaa Radio, had announced plans to write to Ghana’s High Commission in Canada for the repatriation of the guy at the centre of controversy, but suddenly made a U-turn.

According to him, they were currently in talks with some counselors to help ladies deal with the psychological trauma.

The residents hailed Gulkpe Naa for his efforts in encouraging the victims and reintegrating them into society in the wake of reports that some of them had fled town.
