Chief establishes school

Abura Oboka (C/R), July 22, GNA - Within a few years that Nana Kwakwa Adanse XI was installed the chief of Abura Oboka, he has been able to lead his people to build a primary school to save children in the town from walking long distance to attend school at nearby communities and to encourage others to enrol in the school. He said that plans were underway to add a Junior Secondary School to it in the near future since it was his determination to raise the standard of education in the area.

Most children in the town were not attending school due to the absence of a school. He did not mention the cost of the primary school and how it was funded.

Nana Kwakwa Adanse said this at the durbar of the chief and people of the town to mark their annual Yam Festival, which is celebrated to among other things to take stock of their past performance and plan for the coming year.

He called for unity among the community members and appealed to parents to inculcate good moral principles into their children to ensure that the future of town and country was left in the hands of responsible citizens, who would shun corruption and immoral practices.

The Chief cautioned the youth, to abstain from promiscuity, in view of the HIV/AIDS menace and encouraged the communities to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme to access proper health care for themselves.

He urged them to take advantage of such festive occasions to learn the Akan culture. Among those present were other chiefs and their queen mothers from the Traditional Area. 22 July 05
