Accra, March 14, GNA - Togbega Gabusu VI, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, on Wednesday led a delegation to Accra to inform the Government about the death and funeral rites of the Paramount Chief of Tapa Traditional Area.
The 66-year old Nana Ogrohwe Kwaku Boateng II, a retired Naval Officer and member of the National House of Chiefs, who died on May 6, 2006, would be buried on March 30, 2007.
The delegation clad in black attire and red bands presented a traditional gift of a carton of schnapps and a red cloth to invite President John Agyekum Kufuor and Vice President Aliu Mahama to the funeral.
Vice President Mahama flanked by Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, extended the condolences of the Government to the bereaved Family.
"We should accept the fact that it is the Almighty God who has called him to eternity. With his good works I know God would offer him a place in heaven."
Vice President Mahama appealed to members of the Tapa Traditional Council, to use peaceful means to choose a successor to spare the country of the numerous chieftaincy problems.
