Chief's aide appeals for help

Mr Andreas Azameti, Special Aide to Torgbui Korbla Anenu the Fourth, Chief of Adzigo in the Ave-Havi Traditional Area of the Akatsi North District, has appealed to government to provide the town with a befitting classroom block for enhanced teaching and learning.

Making the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Adzigo, Mr Azameti said education was the bedrock of development, and being a rural area, one of the fastest ways government could help speed up their developmental agenda was to provide them with the necessary facilities and conditions for effective teaching and learning.

He said that it is a big headache for them to see their children learning under deplorable conditions and that, "The foundation of every child's life determines their future. Our children are set for doom in the future if we fail to give them the needed support and motivation today."

"I find it hard to understand why the age-old pavilion in our only primary school in town cannot be converted to a better classroom block for our kids. The nature of the facility makes it difficult for the kids to pay attention when classes are in progress as most of them frequently turn to look at what is going on outside of their classrooms."

The chief's special aide appealed for textbooks and other educational materials, to help the teachers and pupils in their research work and studies.

Mr. Azameti also called for an expansion work in the school, to include a junior high school, which according to him, was miles away from their town and posed a great security threat to their wards on their way to school.

He used the encounter to wish his subjects well as they faced the New Year with hopes and aspirations.
