Chief to support Assembly develop tourist potentials

New Edubiase (Ash) January 22, GNA - Nana Guahyia Ababio, chief of New Edubiase is supporting the Adansi South District Assembly with a 50-hectare land to develop three tourist potentials in the District. The project, estimated at 1.1 billion cedis would be funded from the Assembly's common fund.

Mr. Francis Kujoe Dorpenyoh, District Chief Executive, speaking to The DCE said feasibility study and processing of the necessary documents have been completed.

He said the tourist potentials to be developed include Adansi- Kenya and Aboye confluence towns, where rivers Offin and Pra and Birim and Pra confluence respectively. Mr. Dorpenyoh said Diatuo at Adansi Praso would also be developed into tourist attraction centre. The DCE said Diatuo is a historic point, where Asantehene Osei Tutu I, was last seen when crossing the river Pra. He said the Assembly has started work on the four major roads leading to the sites.

Mr. Dorpenyoh said the Assembly, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament of the area, Mr. Ernest Yakah has finalised plans with Ghana Telecom and other cell phone operators to operate in the District.

He expressed satisfaction at the quick response Areeba made to their call, adding that this had made the District to start enjoying the service of Areeba and expressed the hope that by the end of this month, Ghana Telecom would complete the construction of its mast and join Areeba in the improvement of the communication network in the District Mr. Dorpenyoh said the project, when completed, apart from increasing revenue base of the Assembly, would improve the living standards of the people in the area.
