Choristers urged to exhibit true Christian values

Sunyani, May 30, GNA - The Reverend David Donald Donkor of the Sunyani Diocese of the Methodist Church on Sunday advised Choristers to lead lives that conformed to true Christian values.

He said as Christians, they must do away with achievement of material gains and be dedicated to God since as role models, communities looked up to them for guidance to shape their lives.

Rev Donkor was preaching at the 50th Anniversary Celebration and Thanksgiving Service of Wesley Cathedral Choir in Sunyani under the theme: "50 years of Service to God, The Role of Choir in Church Growth". The Methodist priest emphasized that Choristers' attitude, as "the fruits of the Spirit" would encourage other people to accept the Lord Jesus Christ and thus enhance the Church's growth.

"You must love your neighbour as yourself, show kindness to people, be an advocate for peace in your communities, be faithful to God and neighbours and show compassion to people in need", he added. Rev Donkor asked Christians to avoid violent behaviour and be forthright in their endeavours. He advised the Choristers to use their songs to transform those "lost" to worldly pleasures. 30 May 04
