Accra, May 12, GNA - Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, on Thursday advised Ghanaians to cut down the intake of fatty, salty and sugary foods, which could lead to diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Prof Frimpong-Boateng, also the Director of the National Cardio Thoracic Centre, gave the advice when the Christian Fellowship of the Ministry of Trade and Industry presented a cash donation of 6.5 million cedis to the Centre.?
He said the use of artificial spices had health implications and asked women to use natural products in cooking. Prof Frimpong-Boateng said since the expansion and introduction of the state of the art equipment at the Centre most patients with heart diseases could now be treated in the country at a lower cost. Mr Kwadwo Affram Asiedu, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, who made the donation on behalf of the Fellowship, commended Prof Frimpong-Boateng and the staff of the Centre for the excellent work they were doing.
He asked other benevolent organisations to contribute meaningfully to the Ghana Heart Foundation in order to save lives. 12 May 05
