Accra, May 31, GNA - Christians have been called upon to lead lives worthy of emulation in order to give meaning to them being described as the 'light of the world' by Jesus Christ. "Some people refuse to go to church due to some bad behaviour that some so called Christians exhibit in their societies" said the Reverend Victoria Kai Wayo, Greater Accra Regional Education Director of Presbyterian Schools.
Preaching from Matthew 5:14 at a thanksgiving service of the 43rd anniversary of the Women's Fellowship of the Ghana Police Church, Rev. Wayo urged all Christians to love one another and be law abiding. "Since you have been declared the light of the world, do things that will let the light illuminate everywhere," she said, adding, "as we all know immorality thrives only in darkness and this should not be found amongst you".
The occasion was also used to induct into office eleven-member newly elected executive officers of the Women's Fellowship. In an acceptance speech, Mrs Lucy Kwapong, the New President, thanked the Fellowship for the trust reposed in the executives and promised to work to improve upon what her predecessors had done. "We will embark on a new membership drive to expand our membership from 150 and also make sure that members regularly attend meetings; also there will be more talks on spiritual and social issues," she said. The Very Reverend Superintendent Frank Twum-Baah, Chaplain of the Ghana Police Church, appealed to all the members of the Fellowship to be very supportive of the new executives in order to make their work much easier.
He urged them to be united so that they could be successful in all they decided to do.
The Fellowship presented four boxes of communion trays valued at 800 Ghana Cedis to the Church.
Earlier on Tuesday the Fellowship donated 50 sets of bed sheets and three baby trolleys valued at 1,200 Ghana Cedis to the Police Hospital in Accra as part of the activities marking the anniversary. The Fellowship has also adopted a Female Ward at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital, near Accra.
