Church of latter Day Saint reaches to communities

Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is to embark on an outreach project to bring the Church closer to people in communities.

The communities selected for the project in Accra include, Adenta and Tema. Districts outside Accra include Assin Fosu, Konongo, Swedru, Kumasi, Asamankese, Cape Coast among other areas.

The project dubbed: "All African Service Project" is an annual project, which ensured that members of the Church go into the communities to perform different activities including cleaning of drainage systems, painting of hospitals and cleaning of market place.

Mr Daniel Yirenya Tawiah, a Director of humanitarian service of the Church, briefing the media on Thursday in Accra, said the project was aimed at solving problems in communities.

He said the exercise was also to send a message across to Ghanaians that cleaning is an attitude that needs to be cultivated.

He said the project, which started four years, would be replicated in countries across the African continent where the church operates.

Mr Tawiah said a musical programme would be held on August 28 to commemorate the 180th anniversary celebration of the Book of the Mormon.

August 21, is scheduled for the project, which would be done simultaneously in the communities and districts.
