Kumasi, Nov. 19, GNA - The God's Church of Peace is to commit about three billion cedis to establish Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and vocational training centres at Gyinyase, early next year.
Pastor D.S. Boakye, a senior pastor of the church, who disclosed this, said eight plots of land have been acquired in readiness for the take off of the project, while architectural drawings have already been completed.
Pastor Boakye was presenting on behalf of the International Working Commission of the church, six computers, a scanner, printer and photocopier to the God's Church of Peace Preparatory/Junior Secondary School in Kumasi on Thursday.
The items were valued at 102 million cedis and were intended to facilitate the teaching of computer studies in the school. He indicated that the ICT and vocational training projects would be funded through revenue from the local churches with the support from branches of the church abroad.
Pastor Boakye gave the assurance that the International Working Commission of the church would continue to offer assistance to the school in the area of computer education until the intended ICT centre is fully established at Gyinyase.
Madam Grace Aboagye, administrator of the school, commended the donors for the gesture, describing it as timely, while assuring them that the items would be put to the use for which they were donated. She said adequate measures would also be put in place to ensure that the items are properly maintained.
Mr Abdul Aziz Sani, Chairman of the school's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), entreated pupils of the school to avail themselves of the opportunity to become computer literate since computers were now at their doorsteps.
