Churcher inaugurates new executives of UCC TESCON

Cape Coast, May 24, GNA- A new nine-member executive for the University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP), was on Saturday inaugurated with a call on its members to propagate the achievements of the government.

Ms Christine Churcher, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast who made the call in the inaugural address, urged the students to visit communities in the region and make them aware of government development programmes.

The new executive has Mr Richard Ayaim as President, Banseh Tiah Cletus, as his vice, Mashood Mumuni, secretary, Grace Alimo, treasurer and Frederick Appiah, organiser.

The others are Victoria Benedicta Coffie, women's organiser, Sharitha Abdulai Issahaque, assistant women's organiser and Emmanuel Adjei Dankwa, propaganda secretary.

Mr Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister, told the students that the government is committed to improving the lives of the people, through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), President's Special Initiatives (PSI's) and the mass spraying of cocoa and provision of good roads.

He urged polling agents to be vigilant during the elections to ensure free and fair elections.

Captain (rtd) Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey, a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development said the NPP came to serve Ghanaians and mentioned the provision of electricity, and the construction of 50 new schools, and a number of clinics, as some of its achievements government.

Ms Churcher donated three million cedis to the branch, while her personal assistant, Nana Amissah also gave out one million cedis. Mr Edumadze and Capt Effah-Dartey pledged two million cedis each.
