Citizens from Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions residing in Brussels, Belgium, at the weekend presented incubators worth £20,000 Euros to three hospitals in the Bono Region.

Beneficiaries were the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital, Sampa Government Hospital and the Nkoranza St Theresa’s Catholic Hospital.

They also presented medical equipment and devices comprising gloves, needles and mobile oxygen cylinders to the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital.

Nana Akosua Peprah, a representative of the donors, said the donation was their widow’s mite towards improving the health status of the people.

Mrs Mary Boakye, the Chief Nursing Officer at the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Directorate of Health Services, who received the incubators, thanked the donors for the gesture, saying neonatal deaths remained a major burden in the Region.

She said with the incubators, cases would be brought under control, and appealed for additional support from other corporate bodies and wealthy citizens.

Mrs. Cynthia Acheampong, a Matron at the Sampa Government Hospital, also expressed appreciation to the donors and appealed for more support to help reduce infant mortality in the area.
