The Minority in Parliament has entered the fray regarding the controversies over the clearance of over 180 containers of essential medical supplies at the port.

The supplies, provided by the Global Fund, have been languishing at the port for more than a year, leading to a threat from the fund to halt further shipments to Ghana.

This situation has sparked a debate between the CSOs in the health sector and the government, with the latter maintaining that the consignment contains only mosquito nets.

After a meeting with officials from the Global Fund, the Minority Spokesperson on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, addressed the media in Parliament. He raised questions about how the $2 million allocated by the fund for clearing the supplies was utilized.

The MP for Juaboso also urged the government to expedite the clearance of the goods, regardless of their contents, since the request for the supplies originated from the government itself. He described the situation as an international embarrassment.
