Coca-cola does not cause diabetes

Kumasi, Feb.10, GNA - Mr Constantine Sunu, Quality System Manager of Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Kumasi, has debunked a widely held conception that the consumption of coca-cola, a fizzy drink, causes diabetes.

He said Coca Cola has been carefully prepared to conform to all consumer safety standards to meet the body's energy requirement and to safeguard human health.

Mr Sunu explained that the product which contains acceptable levels of a special low-calorie sugar imported from the United States is safe for all consumers.

He was however, quick to add that diabetics, are medically not supposed to take all sugary foods and not coca-cola alone. The Quality System Manager was interacting with a section of the press after a ceremony in Kumasi on Friday during which the Ghana Standards Board awarded the company with a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, an indication of quality assurance of the company's products.

Mr Sunu therefore called on the consuming public not to fear to take coca-cola especially during hot afternoons to replenish their lost energy.
