Cocoa Board donates C200m to Korle-Bu

Accra, March 21, GNA - Ghana Cocoa Board on Tuesday donated 200 million cedis to the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital for the rehabilitation of the Emergency Unit of the Children's Block.

The rehabilitation is to decongest the Children's Department and also provide maximum privacy for both patients and doctors. Mr Tony Fofie, Deputy Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board, said the donation was its second towards the rehabilitation of the Department. The first in December 2003 was to assist to start the project.

"This is because we believe the infrastructure will not be for management alone but also improve patient care, which is what Korle-Bu stands for," he said.

Mr Fofie expressed the hope that the money would be useful in the rehabilitation and improvement of facilities in the Children's Department enhance the general ambience and engender high performance. Dr Benjamin Annan, Acting Chief Administrator, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, said the Hospital had a five-year strategic plan of which maintenance and management of facilities and the improvement of health care was a priority.

He expressed his gratitude to the donors for helping in the improvement of facilities at the Hospital.
