Mondelez International Cocoa Life, a cocoa processing firm, has handed over teachers’ bungalows to the Wassa East District Education Directorate to ease the accommodation problems of teachers in the District.
The facility constructed at GHC420,000 has two rooms in each unit with kitchen and washroom facilities.
Speaking at two separate functions to hand over the facilities to the District Education Directorate, Mrs. Yaa Peprah Amekudzi, the Country Manager of Mondelez said the cocoa processing firm’s goal was to improve the welfare of children, hence , its support to teachers to stay in deprived communities to offer quality education to the pupils.
She said the presence of teachers in deprived communities would enable them to shape the attitudes of children-of-school-going age in order to become responsible adults to take up the leadership of the country in the future.
She commended the chiefs, District Education Unit, community members, assembly members, and the contractor for the project, for supporting the efforts of the company, and tasked them to take proper care of the facilities.
The District Education Director, Mrs. Elizabeth Essien, expressed her appreciation to the Company for the gesture, saying this would help the teachers to deliver their best.
She promised to ensure that the facilities were kept in good shape to benefit the teachers who served in the District.
