A Minister of State at the Presidency has heaped praises on President John Mahama for fixing the country’s energy crisis.
According to Rashid Pelpuo, President Mahama has performed exceptionally well in the energy sector and must be commended by all Ghanaians.
The Wa Central Member of Parliament argued that successive governments did not permanently address the energy problem unlike President Mahama.
Hon. Pelpuo speaking at the launch of the street campaign for JM in Accra said 'dumsor' will soon be a thing of the past.
“In energy, lots of people are talking about dumsor dumsor, the reason is that for all the eight years that the NPP was in power they did not adequately address the challenge of dumsor.
“It is only John Mahama who is doing what he should do to make sure that we never get short of energy in Ghana. The total energy that we had in Ghana before John Mahama was 2300 megawatts…we now have 3000 megawatts, infact we have more than 3000 megawatts,” Pelpuo said.
Ghana has been battling crippling energy crisis for several years now. The country had to shed over 600 megawatts last year, the crisis normalized early this year after the President promised to fix the problem.
However, in the last few months the country has been experiencing a return of the power crisis which has been explained by the Power Ministry as a generation shortfall.
