Commentary: Ghana Needs You Alive

The yuletide is here and far advanced, as Ghanaians like others the world over, look forward for joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year; where parents reunite with children in one whole spirit and mood of refreshment of the human soul, blended with sense of belonging.

However, the caution, as your authoritative newspaper, the Informer, would sound it, to revelling compatriots, is that; Ghana needs each and everyone alive from the festivals of goodwill, through the noble birth of Redeemer Christ, and in the flames of human merriment through the advent of the purposeful New Year 2012.

The Informer calls for Red Alert on our roads and on the part of commuting public, in regard to the heart-rending vehicular road carnage that in recent times, and mostly through human errors, killed, maimed, orphaned, widowed and grieved families.

This paper deems it appropriate and timely, to alert the over-speeding drivers, who would want to maximize returns, as well as jolly-riding commuters, who would dare the daredevil in the driver to ride fast, and to beat time. It is true that, in a season like this, ‘time and tide wait for no man’, but a life-time shortened, remainder remains irretrievable in nature’s records of the sciences.

This is why the paper will plead with all stakeholders in Ghana’s road safety management to put all hands on deck in a resolute attempt to, at least, minimize the vehicular road carnage in the season, so we can return to call, in a whole piece, than bits of pieces, after the yuletide. Indeed, Ghana needs us alive.
