Tricycle riders in the Ashanti region have called on government to commercialise their operations.
According to the riders, some of the tricycles were distributed to them by the Microfinance and Small Loan Centre (MASLOC).
But Alhaji Saeed Kucho, chairman of the tricycle riders could not phantom why government has declined to regulate and commercialise their operations.
He wondered how MASLOC is expecting them to pay back the loan since they are not being allowed to carry passengers and operate freely.
"The tricycles were given by MASLOC…they were given to us to work and pay but If it's not commercialised, how can we work and pay back?," he told Adehye FM's Elisha Adarkwah on the sidelines of the inauguration of a taskforce mandated to monitor the activities of the tricycle riders.
"So, now we are pleading with the government and the leaders of MASLOC, they have to fight for us for government to commercialise it, so that, we can also work and pay back the loans otherwise it will be a big problem for all of us," he added.
