Winneba, April 27, GNA - A 28-member committee has been formed to ensure the peaceful celebration of the Aboakyer festival of the chiefs and people of the Effutu Traditional Area. The Committee is made up of members of Asafo companies, opinion leaders of the town, representatives from the traditional council and the youth groups.
The chairman of the committee, Nana Kojo Beedu V, announced this at a Press conference in Winneba on Monday. Addressing the press conference, Nana Beedu said the festival would start from May 1 and end on Monday May 9. There would be a durbar at A.M.E Zion School Park on May 8, the Aboakyer day, when the two Asafo companies, Dentsifo No. 1 and Tuafo No. 2, will go to the bush to capture a live deer. Nana Beedu explained that May 1 that was originally fixed for the durbar is May Day, hence the need for the postponement to May 8.
