Kwame-Dwuma Sreso (Ash.), June 1, GNA - The chiefs and people of Kwame-Dwuma Sreso in the Atwima Mponua District have through self-help built a three- bedroom house for teachers in the town. They financed the project through the payment of special development levies, fund-raising and voluntary contributions. Nana Siaw Manu, chief of the town, said these when officers from the District Education Directorate inspected educational infrastructure in the town.
He said plans were far advanced for the rehabilitation of the local Junior Secondary School and primary school buildings. Nana Manu gave the assurance that more houses would be built for teachers and appealed to the District Assembly to provide building materials for any such project.
Nana Yaa Akua, the Queenmother of the town, appealed to parents in the area to ensure that their children, especially the girls were enrolled in school.
Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education in charge of Human Resource Management and Development, praised the people for their initiative and reminded the people that local communities had a role to play in enhancing teaching and learning. He also asked them to collaborate with teachers to ensure discipline among school children.
