In a significant effort to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection, the Visionary Norman Foundation and Medicare Foundation-UK organized a free breast and health screening event on Friday, October 25, 2024.

The event took place at Lesfam Place, Ritz Junction, Madina, marking an impactful observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The initiative, supported by the Madina Polyclinic, among others, was designed to provide accessible health services to the community. Starting at 9:00 a.m., the event welcomed both women and men to receive free breast cancer screenings and general health assessments, underscoring the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer.

Mr. Abraham Norman Nortey, Founder and CEO of the Visionary Norman Foundation, emphasized the critical need for proactive health measures.

“Early detection saves lives. Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to prioritize their health. Breast cancer is a fight we can win together by staying informed and getting screened regularly,” he remarked.

Mrs. Naana Hagan Cherry, founder of the Medicare Foundation in the UK, highlighted the importance of community engagement in health initiatives.

“Health is a community responsibility, and we are proud to join hands with the Visionary Norman Foundation and other partners to bring these essential services to Madina,” she said. “We want people to know that screenings like these are vital for early detection and successful treatment.”

Dr. Abigail Adu, Project Manager at the Visionary Norman Foundation and Senior Medical Officer at Madina Polyclinic, spoke about the significance of awareness campaigns. “Breast cancer remains a major health concern, and awareness is key. By providing free screenings, we are helping to remove barriers to healthcare access and encouraging preventive care,” Dr. Adu noted.

The event featured health professionals who provided personalized consultations and educational materials on breast cancer prevention, symptoms, and treatment options. The screenings allowed participants to learn more about their health status, emphasizing the importance of regular check-ups.

As October is dedicated to breast cancer awareness globally, this screening event added to a series of efforts to educate the public and offer life-saving services.

The event was well attended, and the feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with many participants expressing gratitude for the accessible health services provided.
