The National Executive Committee of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unanimously confirmed vice-president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as the running mate of President John Dramani Mahama.
The official confirmation was made on Tuesday after a meeting at the party's headquarters in Accra.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur is expected to be introduced to party supporters at an event in Accra later today.
Explaining the process, Mr. Bede Zeiden, executive member of the party said the president submitted a single nominee to the Council of Elders on Monday and was accordingly endorsed.
On his part, the Chairman of the party, Dr. Kwabena Adjei said the nominee was overwhelmingly accepted because he could deliver, and help move the NDC forward.
“We understand ourselves and we position our minds in positive directions every time, and for that matter we have a way of policing the positivity of minds, we put our minds positively to an event or instance and we achieve it.
...There was consultation, the President said this is the guy I want and then we all said that he is a good guy,” the chairman said.
