Police investigations into the alleged assault on Mr. Baah Acheamfour have revealed that six persons went to FOX FM and attacked the victim on the instruction of the Ashanti Regional Communication’s Director for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kwasi Kyei.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko and copied to Kapital News, dated 29th April, 2016.
Mr. Baah Acheamfour, widely known as an Akufo-Addo critic was physically assaulted by some Macho men on April 25, 2016 while in the studios of Fox FM where the victim had been invited as a panelist on the station’s afternoon political show.
Narrating the incident on Newsbreak on that fateful day, a journalist with the radio station said, the Macho men alleged to be members of the NPP walked into the studio’s of FOX FM pushing away security personnel along the way and started attacking Mr. Baah Acheamfour for making comments they found derogatory as far as the recent fund raising campaign (Yi Bi Ma) of the NPP was concerned.
Mr. Baah Acheamfour had already alleged that he heard Mr. Kwasi Kyei who first entered the studio on phone asking some people to come to Fox FM, not long after which the Macho men arrived.
The police command which says its investigations confirmed Mr. Kyei indeed masterminded the attack also said in its statement that “one of the suspects who has only been identified as Ahmed and stays at Aboabo is currently on the run whiles effort is underway to arrest him.”
The regional command is promising a reward of two thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc2,000.00) for any person whose information will lead to the arrest of any of the six suspects.
Also a reward will be given to any person who will be able to present police with a photograph of any of the suspects.
“Any person or group of persons who attempt to attack or attack any person(s) will be met with commensurate force by any means possible.” the statement added.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command is also warning the youth against acting on the instructions of any party executive or patron to engage him/her in acts of criminality or breaking electoral rules.
According to the police, “this is not only because it is wrongful and unlawful but also such a person will not be in a position to stand between the offender and justice.”
Such youth are therefore entreated not to gamble away their lives or future by acting on the instructions or dictate of people in authority to their detriment.
