Congress should strengthen unity in the party- NDC scribe

The Asawasi Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Joseph Boarle Salifu, has appealed to the leadership of the party to use the impending special delegates’ congress to mend cracks and foster unity.

The NDC, he said, could not afford to go into this year’s elections divided, adding that “all hands should be on deck to achieve electoral victory.”

Addressing a meeting of the party at Asawasi in Kumasi on Tuesday, Mr. Salifu warned against complacency, saying, nothing should be left to chance.

The meeting was to discuss and plan towards the August 31 special congress in Kumasi.

He appealed to the delegates to be disciplined and ensure responsible conduct to make the event peaceful and successful.

Mr. Salifu urged the endorsement of President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, as the party’s flag-bearer and running mate.

He expressed optimism that the pair would retain the NDC in power.
