Constituency executive positions are not for sale - Kale

Gwollu (UWR), Dec. 5, GNA - Mr Caesar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, has said that the executive positions of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the constituency level are not for sale. Rather, those positions are meant for committed and dedicated members, who had put their lives, resources and expertise towards the growth and development of the NDC and are prepared to work towards winning the 2012 elections for the party.

Mr Kale was addressing the Sissala West constituency delegates' conference of the NDC at Gwollu, to elect new executives to run the affairs of the party for the next four years. He said all those pretending to be members of the NDC in the constituency are known to the party executives and warned that they should stay away from interfering in the elections. He said it has come to the notice of the regional executives that some disgruntled persons in the constituency had started going round fomenting ethnic sentiments, aimed at disorganising and weakening the support base of the party.

Mr Kale, who is also the Regional Secretary of the NDC appealed to the supporters of the party to be wary of such persons, who are bent on causing confusion in the constituency. He urged them to remain united and work hard to win the Sissala West Constituency seat from the People National Convention (PNC) come 2012. Mr Kale said government would fulfill all the promises it made to Ghanaians and pleaded for patience, to enable the government to fix the economy, which he said, was in a bad state. Mr Robert Baka Wavei, Sissala West District Chief Executive, called for a united front within the rank and file of the party, since it was the only way to win the seat for the NDC.

He said it was wrong for some supporters to think that "getting executive positions was the only way to ginger them to work for the benefit of the party".

"Such people are not true members or supporters of the NDC", he said, pointing out that "As a supporter of a party, one does not need a position before working for the benefit of that party". A 25 member executive was later elected with Alhaji Adamu Korbzie as Chairman, Alhaji Alidu Iddrisu, first Vice Chairman and Alhassan Bukari, second Vice Chairman.

The post of secretary went to Mr Adams Ali Guguo with Mr Tahiru K. Horwie as Deputy Secretary. Mr Gbanha S. Mustapha was elected as Propaganda Secretary with Mr Wajiwie Mensah Joseph as the Deputy Propaganda Secretary. The constituency organiser position went to Mr Abdul Majeed Giro with Mr Sulley Adamu as his deputy, whiles Madam Margaret Tangivel was elected as women organiser. 05 Dec. 09
