Twifo Praso (C/R), July 14, GNA - Drama unfolded at the district Magistrate's court at Twifo Praso on Wednesday when the parents of a man, who had caused his arrest and subsequent prosecution, pleaded with the court to set their son free.
The mother of the convict, Madam Rose Adjei, broke down in tears and together with her husband Mr Samuel Aboagye, urged the court to "have mercy" and set free Kweku Aidoo, 28, who had been sentenced to nine months in prison for threatening to kill them. Aidoo, a mason, had earlier pleaded guilty to threat of death, threat of harm and causing unlawful damage.
The magistrate however, explained to them that the sentence imposed on their son was for them as well as it was to enable him reform in jail and come out as a responsible citizen.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector, Henry Tanor told the court that on July 3, Aidoo went to his parents' house armed with cartridges and a cutlass and accused his mother of being a witch, responsible for his woes and threatened to kill her.
He said his father intervened, enabling Aidoo's mother ran out of the house. His father also ran away when he son threatened to kill him. Chief Inspector Tanor said Aidoo turned his anger on his brother, Samuel Nyarko and attacked him with the cutlass. He destroyed Nyarko's radio cassette and fled.
