Constable Hilda Avornyo with the Ghana Police Service at Dormaa Ahenkro in the Dromaa Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region has been arrested and currently in detention over a missing AK 47 assault rifle and 10 rounds of ammunition.

The weapon went missing at her duty post claiming she placed it beside her in the kiosk but could not find it.

It is gathered that one Inspector Samuel Torgbor informed the district commander that Corporal Peter Adomah had told him that, when he went to pick the duty men at Duasidan snap check point, Hilda Avornyo reported missing of her weapon no. 161625 with 10 rounds of ammunition.

Senior Police Officers in the Municipality assisted by the station officer, the defaulter and men proceeded to the Duasidan community in search for the weapon.

The police team met with the assembly man and opinion leaders of the community to assist recover the weapon but to no avail.

Hilda Avornyo has since been detained to assist police in their investigations.
