Upper East Regional Police Commander DCOP Alex Quainoo has confirmed the death of Corporal Patrick Ackah, who was on official duty at the Volta River Authority (VRA) premises in Bolgatanga, the regional capital.
The late Corporal who had been assigned for official night duty on Monday, September 2, 2013, was found motionless the following day, Tuesday September 3, 2013. His death was confirmed when his motionless body was taken to the Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga.
DCOP Quainoo who confirmed this to some journalists in Bolgatanga, said the police did not suspect any foul play in the interim. The body had been deposited at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital morgue awaiting post-mortem. The post-mortem, according to him, would ascertain the circumstances that led to the shocking demise of Corporal Ackah.
DCOP Alex Quainoo said Police, ahead of the post-mortem were investigating the case and would implore all and sundry to remain calm whilst they come out with their findings on the possible cause of Ackah’s demise.
Some police officers, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE about their late colleague, said he looked strong and did not show any sign of sickness or pain and so they were surprised at his sudden demise and wanted the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to take the investigation seriously to get to the bottom of the case.
