Cop on the run after he mistakenly killed 51-year-old man

Constable Issah Abdulai-Rahim of National Protection Unit (FPU) is on the run after reportedly gunned down 51-year-old Teiko Amuzu at Galloway road close to the Timber market at James Town.

According to the facts of the case according to police investigator Sergeant Peter Brobbey, the suspect on unregistered blue Royal motorbike chased a civilian motorbike rider from Palladium through Galloway road to the Timber market.

He later crossed the rider who was then carrying two pillion riders and they all fell down.Constable Issah Abdulai-Rahim then tried to handcuff the suspect but he resisted fiercely.

The Constable’s service rifle fell and one of the lady pillion riders picked it.

The Constable collected the rifle from her and corked it and he hit the suspect with it and the rifle went off incidentally and hit the deceased who was walking about three metres from the scene on the right ribs.

The victim was rushed to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead but the body has since been deposited at same hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Police Officer escaped from the scene leaving behind his blue unregistered Royal motorbike, helmet and a pair of handcuffs.

He, however, went to RDF headquarters very dirty in uniform and interacted with his mates with whom he passed out at the Pwalugu Police Training School and abandoned his rifle on a bench and went away.

He is currently at large.
