Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of policy think tank IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has argued that even as we praise President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his interventions to fight the novel coronavirus pandemic, Ghanaians must accept the fact that former President John Mahama made strategic infrastructural investments in the health sector.

President Akufo-Addo has been widely praised for the measures and interventions he has introduced as the country battles with the novel coronavirus pandemic. Recently he announced a raft of economic interventions to cushion Ghanaians given that the virus has taken a toll on many Ghanaians.

For Mr Cudjoe, former President Mahama deserves praise because his strategic investments are coming handy as the country takes on the pandemic, describing JM as a visionary.

“While we praise Nana for the interventions to fight COVID-19, we must acknowledge the strategic investments in health infrastructure JM made which is coming in handy now. JM was visionary too,” he posited on Facebook.

Former President Mahama as President, among others, built many hospitals that have become critical in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The University of Ghana Medical Centre built during John Mahama’s presidency, for instance, has become central in the fight against the pandemic.
