Coronavirus: Begoro Hospital Nurses use tissue as nose mask

There is fear and panic among Nurses and Midwives at Begoro Government Hospital in the Eastern region as a pregnant woman suspected to have been infected with Covid-19 virus is quarantined.

The woman hails from Abuoso but stays in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.

She reported at Hospital after visiting a CHPS compound with fever, cough and flu with a body temperature of 41.2degrees C (106 degrees F). The suspect was being traced for having contact with one of the individuals who has tested positive.

Meanwhile, there is anxiety among Health Workers at the Begoro Hospital due to lack of protective materials. Currently, they are improvising with tissue papers turned into nose mask as they await supply of proper nose masks and other protective gadgets to work with.

Starr News has gathered that five cases tested so far as at March 19, 2020, in the Eastern region have all tested negative

However, one suspected case from Somanya will be tested today.

Meanwhile, the Regional Health Directorate is contact tracing two other persons signalled by National team to have had contact with some individuals tested positive.

One is said to be in Kukurantumi whilst the other is in Koforidua.

The latest information provided is that the Kukurantumi contact has been traced to his parents home but was said to have returned to Accra.

Ghana has so far confirmed 11 cases of coronavirus whilst efforts are ongoing to test many more who have come into contact with the affected persons.
