Ghana has recorded its first three local cases of the novel coronavirus according to the latest information released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

A total of 16 confirmed cases have been recorded so far as at March 20, 2020, with 13 being imported. It is, however, emerging three victims got the virus locally through close contact with infected persons.

They include a 29-year-old Ghanaian lady; resident of Accra who has no history of travel; but her sample confirmed positive in the laboratory.

The other is a 53-year-old Ghanaian male, resident of Tema who also has no history of travel and with no evidence of close contact with a confirmed case.

The last person is a 34-year-old Ghanaian lady resident in Accra who is believed to have contracted the virus at work.
