The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority, Kofi Osei Ameyaw, has appealed to Ghanaians to adhere to preventive measures issued by the government to help control the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

So far, the country has recorded sixty-eight cases with a significant increase in the last 24 hours owing to the mandatory quarantine of some 1030 persons who got into the country before the closure Ghana’s entry points on Sunday.

The death count is three after a wife of retired army officer died at 37 Military Hospital.

On Wednesday, March 15 a nationwide fasting and prayers were held to seek the face of God in the battle against the virus.

Kofi Osei Ameyaw is of the firm conviction that the day-old fasting and prayers could be the turning point for Ghana in the battle.

He said in a statement that the God who has over the years protected the country from attacks will answer the prayers of Ghanaians.

He urged Ghanaians to obey the social distancing protocol advised by health officials and take personal hygiene seriously.

“As Government takes pragmatic steps to address this pandemic, I would like to urge Ghanaians to respect and observe all protocols set out by the government, especially Social Distancing.

Let's us take personal hygiene seriously during and after this pandemic crisis”. He added that the current situation is also an opportunity for Ghanaians to show compassion and preach the message of hope.
