Coronavirus: Gt. Accra’s case count passes 6,000 as nat’l tally soars

Ghana’s Covid-19 case count continues to be on the ascendancy though deaths have slowed in the past few days.

According to the latest update released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on its website Thursday, June 4, the cumulative number of cases recorded so far is 8,885.

Out of this number, 3,189 have recovered while 38 have lost their lives to the virus.

This leaves Ghana’s active cases at 5,658.

There are two patients in critical conditions while nine’s are said to be severe. These patients are receiving treatment at major centres such as the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), the Ga East Municipal Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital, where two are on admission.

Greater Accra Region’s tally constitutes about 69 per cent of the total case count.

The capital region has recorded a total of 6,102 cases since Thursday, March 12, when the first two cases were recorded.

Ashanti Region follows with 1,452 cases.
