The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has closed down the Kasoa New and old markets concurrently effective, Thursday, April, 09,2020.

The decision was triggered by trader’s reluctance to comply with the spacing, rotation and other healthy policies proposed by the Assembly to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

A Press Statement by the Assembly said alternative arrangements have been done by authorities for satellite markets to be carried on at some locations within the jurisdiction including Odupongkpehe Zion School Park, Datus School Park, Akweley Anglican School Park and Ofaakor DA School Park.

“The Management and administration of these satellite markets have been discussed with the various market leaders. These satellite markets shall be closed by 4pm on each day.

“The regular market tolls shall be collected by the Assembly’s revenue collectors during this period. There shall be NO MARKET DAYS until further Notice.

“The Assembly entreats all market actors (buyers and sellers alike) to comply as the Assembly will employ every legal means at its disposal to sustain compliance.” the statement concluded.
