Coronavirus: Mpohor DCE donates to the District Health Directorate

The District Chief Executive for Mpohor, Hon. Ignatius Asaah Mensah has donated some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Health Directorate of Mpohor District.

The items included Nose Masks, Surgical Gloves and Protective Clothing. Other items donated include varied quantities of Anti- Bacterial Soaps, Alcohol-based Hand Sanitizers, Veronica Buckets with stands, Washing Bowls and Tissue Papers.

The donation was meant to support the Health Directorate’s effort at stemming the spread of novel coronavirus pandemic in the District.

Speaking after the presentation, Hon. Ignatius Asaah Mensah said the Assembly had already provided a number of preventive items such as Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, liquid soap and tissue papers to key institutions, lorry parks, market centers and vantage points in some communities in the District.

He said His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has initiated a widespread mitigating measures to cushion the suffering of the poor and the vulnerable by absorbing water and part of electricity bills. Aside this, the government has also set up the Ghana COVID-19 Trust Fund as well as a stimulus package for businesses.

He pledged the commitment of the Assembly to support the activities of the district’s Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEC) to control the spread of COVID 19 in the District. He used the occasion to encourage health professionals to give off their best in these trying times.

The Hon. District Chief Executive also called on the citizenry to report the presence of returnees from endemic areas to District Health Officers and Assembly Members so that they could be traced and screened. He added that so far, all ten suspected cases whose samples were taken had proved negative.

He called on all hands to be on deck in the fight against the disease.

Receiving the items, the District Director of Health, Mrs. Wilhelmina Duah thanked the Hon. DCE for the support the health directorate had received from the Assembly since the beginning of the year. She pledged to ensure that the items are to proper use.



Mrs. Duah used the occasion to urged Nananom to support the efforts of government in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. She urged the people to adhere strictly to the preventive protocols of the COVID-19. She said the disease is real and the most important thing is to work hard to avoid being infected, and that they should report any suspected case to the nearest health facility.

Ghana has so far recorded 641 cases with 8 deaths.
