Coronavirus: Stop coming out from your homes to gossip – Health Minister advises

The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu says it’s imperative that citizens stay at home and avoid stepping out just to gossip and put their health at risk.

He bemoaned this practice by a section of Ghanaians at a media briefing earlier today, May 5, 2020 at the Information Ministry in Accra.

The lawmaker said the coronavirus will be with the people of Ghana and the world at large for a very long time so there’s the need for Ghanaians to stay at home as much as possible because the virus 'does not have legs' but it is transmitted from one human to another.

He noted that some women are tempted to come out of their homes just to gossip with their friends but advised that it’s better to halt gossip during this period so that the scientist can fight the virus to enable Ghana move on with its activities.

Reminding the country of the need to observe personal hygiene, the Health Minister said it’s essential that citizens sanitize all surfaces and avoid rubbing their hands on their faces using the the opportunity to reiterate the need to put on a mask when stepping out to public places.

He called on the populace to make up their minds that the novel disease will not leave anytime soon so the earlier they change their lifestyle, the better.
