Coronavirus: We can now work with real-time data – Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang

The Ashanti Regional Health Director Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang says they can now work with real-time data in fighting Covid-19 Pandemic in the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi he said the labs in the region have cleared all backlogs and will now be providing real-time data to help the country’s Covid-19 fight.

“We were working basically on how to get real-time data for all the cases, we had a lot of backlog in the laboratories for that reason we were not getting the real-time data so now with the support of the labs we were able to clear a lot of backlogs and from now our hope is that we will get a real-time data.”

The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine, KCCR was expected to by today Thursday, May 7 clear the backlog of COVID-19 test samples at the facility.

After all the backlog has been cleared the testing centres in the country will be able to deliver results of the samples in 24 hours.

Speaking at the Information Ministry’s press briefing on Tuesday, Professor William Kwabena Ampofo, Head of Virology Department of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research said by today Thursday, May 7 the KCCR should be done with the rest of the samples.

“The 1, 892 samples awaiting testing, it was 3,500 yesterday. We expect that by Thursday the backlog will be done.”
