Coronavirus fight: Tarkwa-Nsuaem MP intensifies sensitization

Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency in the Western Region, Mr. George Mireku-Duker has embarked on public education to sensitize his Constituents about the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

As part of his efforts, the MP took the opportunity to donate some preventive items to some constituents.

From March 2020, he has toured almost all 30 electoral areas in the Tarkwa Municipality conveying the messages of government in line with fight against the deadly virus and donating items such as Veronica buckets, liquid soaps, hand sanitizers to most lorry stations, markets, Tarkwa Municipal Hospital, Tarkwa Prisons, Tarkwa Immigration Service, Tarkwa NHIS and other public places.

On his second round of donations on April 27, 2020, Hon. Duker accompanied by Hon. Ali Maiga, MP, Dormaa West donated boxes of Hand gloves, Protective wears, Gum Boots, Nose Masks, Veronica buckets, Hand Sanitizers, Liquid Soaps and a hand-held infrared thermometer each to the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital and the Apinto Government Hospital all in the Tarkwa township.

This makes it the second time in a span of a week Hon. Duker is donating to the Municipal Hospital.

Hon. George Mireku Duker and his team proceeded to the Tarkwa Prisons Service to present Veronica buckets, liquid soaps, tissue papers and a hand-held infrared thermometer which was actually a plea placed before Hon. Duker a fortnight ago when he visited the service, a promise delivered.

Also, Hon. Duker continued to the Chiefs and people of Wassa Agona and Terberebie for the education exercise and donated items towards the fight against the deadly virus.

Speaking in an interview, the Lawmaker Mr. George Mireku-Duker bemoned how this deadly Coronavirus was crippling the economy of Ghana other countries.

He, therefore, called on all religious believers in the world to pray earnestly against this killer virus.

He emphasized that government of Ghana was doing its best to provide preventive items to its citizens but appealed Ghanaians to pray against this deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Mireku-Duker was optimistic that very soon this deadly Coronavirus would vanish from the world.

Apart from calling on religious believers to pray against this virus, the MP urged his Constituents and the whole world to adhere to the preventive measures outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO).

"As for prayers we have to do it always against this deadly Coronavirus but we have to observe social distancing protocol, we have to wash our hands frequently, apply alcoholic-based hand sanitizers when necessary, we have to report any symptoms of the Coronavirus to health professionals for immediate actions", he educated.

He pledged to continue to provide his Constituents with preventive items to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

He disclosed that his Constituency has not recorded any positive case of Coronavirus despite recording over 30 suspected cases.

So far, Western Region has recorded nine (9) positive cases of Coronavirus.

With the aforementioned cases, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has recorded seven (7) cases while Nzema East Municipality has recorded two (2).
