Mr Prosper K. Pi-Bansah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive has said COVID-19 has strengthened the case to step up the teaching, application, and deployment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools in doing government business.

He said the driving force of ICT had come to stay and time had come to make it available to schools and students at their levels.

Mr Pi-Bansah said this when he inaugurated the ICT Centre of the Nuriya Islamic School Complex at the main Zongo in Ho.

The School was presented with 10 computers with system accessories and a digital projector secured from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), which is the government's agency under the Ministry of Communication, charged with the responsibility to bridge the digital divide between the served and underserved.

The MCE said eleven other public schools in the Municipality had applied for computers from GIFEC with the caveat to provide a secure building to accommodate the equipment.

He entreated the School authorities to take good care of the items and use them for the purpose for which they were donated.

Mr Abdul Fatao, Assistant Headteacher of the School thanked the government, Ho Municipal Assembly, and the GIFEC for the items.

He said the School hitherto relied on textbooks and sometimes personal computers of teachers to teach the students during the ICT period.
