Corporal Iddi Braimah, who died of gunshot wounds during an operation to arrest a car snatching gang at Ashaiman last Tuesday was buried at Funsi, his hometown on Saturday.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, led a high powered delegation including top personnel from the Police Headquarters and the Upper West Regional Police Command to Funsi and presented Corporal Braimah’s body to the family for burial.
The delegation included Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Patrick Timbillah, the Greater Accra regional Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Peter Ndekugri, who is also a Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, the Upper West Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kofi Danso Adei Akyeampong.
DCOP Timbillah announced that, the Police Command had posthumously promoted the late Lance Corporal Braimah to a full Corporal on last Friday, a day before he was laid to rest at his hometown.
He described Corporal Braimah as a disciplined policeman and said the Inspector General of Police and the Police Command would not relent in their efforts to protect and secure the safety of all personnel while on duty.
Madam Marta Braimah, wife of the deceased, said even though her husband died in pain through gunshot wounds, he died for a just cause and all must hail him for his bravery and love for work.
It would be recalled that an attempt by the police to arrest members of a car snatching gang at Ashaiman last Tuesday ended fatally when Corporal Braimah was shot by a robber.**
