The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) Programs Director, Mrs Mary Awelana Addah believes the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition Democratic Congress (NDC) have both done little in terms of fighting corruption while in office.

“I will put both NPP and NDC in the same basket .None of them is doing better than other”, she observed when she spoke on ‘Kumasi FM’s morning show hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

According to her, though it is her observation and not backed by evidence, from where she sits as Programs Director, both past and present governments are not doing enough to get rid of the corruption canker that has bedeviled the nation.

“Though GII has not conducted any research on that. This my personal opinion and I am convinced that NPP and NDC are same in terms of corruption”, she stressed while speaking to the recent exposé ‘Contracts for Sale’ by investigate journalist, Manasseh Azuri Awuni.

Meanwhile GII has officially commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for his swift decision to suspend the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei, following allegations of corruption against him in an investigative documentary put together by former Investigative Journalist with Multimedia.

In the documentary, Mr. Boateng was accused of establishing a company called Talent Discovery Limited, which won some government contracts through restrictive tendering and subsequently selling the contracts to individuals and other institutions.

Executive Director for GII, Linda Ofori-Kwafo on Eyewitness News described Mr. Adjei’s actions as appalling and disgraceful.

“I must say from GII’s point of view, the documentary brings to the fore so many issues that actually require further investigations and they may be sanctions taken. The alleged actions of the PPA boss are appalling and disgraceful.”

“We must also commend the President for the action taken so far in terms of asking the PPA boss to step aside and also asking CHRAJ and OSP to conduct further investigations into the matter.”
