Corruption fight: Expect nothing from Akufo-Addo – Odike to Ghanaians

Founder and leader of United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike has asked Ghanaians to expect nothing from President Akufo-Addo on corruption allegations in his leadership.

“Ghanaians should expect nothing good from the President. President Akufo-Addo has nothing good to say about corruption”, Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s morning show hosted by Papa Nyameke monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday addressed the country on major strides the government is making in the fight against corruption at the annual conference of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) held in Takoradi

Speaking about the President’s speech, UPP founder said corruption under the Nana Akufo-Addo has worsened unlike his predecessor, former President John Dramani Mahama.

“Under President Akufo-Addo police officers still are taking bribes. …Contracts still are paying bribes to before given contracts”, the businessman cum politician bemoaned as he accused faceless appointees in government of being embodiment of corruption.

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo noted that strenuous efforts by his opponents to make him and his government appear corrupt will not materialize.

“I am aware of the orchestrated attempts by my opponents to hang the tag of corruption on the necks of my government and myself despite all the manifest efforts being made to deal with the phenomenon of corruption. I just have one simple answer for them. It won’t work. I did not come into public life to enrich myself,” the President declared today at the Bar Conference on Monday.
