Council of State Member urges Ghanaians to expose evils in society

Tema, April 12, GNA - Mr Ato Essuman, Member of the Council of State on Friday called on Ghanaians to utilize their talents profitably to impact positively on society. He asked Ghanaians, especially Christians to exhibit commitment, honesty and dedication in their various capacities so as to contribute meaningfully to the nation. Mr Essuman, who is the Chief Director at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, was speaking at the 55th national conference of the Methodist Lay Movement, which was held at Tema. It was under the theme: "the Lay Movement and the Mission of the Church - 60 years and beyond".

Turning to the Church, Mr Essuman asked leadership to lead lives worthy of emulation by the youth in order to bequeath a good legacy to succeeding generation. The Most Reverend Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, called on church members to strive hard to become self independent.

Touching on the impending presidential and parliamentary elections, he prayed that all aspirants conduct clean campaigns devoid of inflammatory statements in order not create tension. He reiterated that campaign messages should be based on issues rather than personality attacks. The Right Rev. Samuel Achamfour-Yeboah, Tema Methodist Diocesan Bishop admonished members to exhibit true Methodism by sharing their wealth with the poor and needy.
