Council of State member chases away Chinese gamblers

The Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area, Tongo-Rana Kubilsong Nalebegtan known in private life as Robert Nachinab D. Mosore has waged a relentless war against the establishment and operations of Chinese gambling centres in the Upper East Region.

He has subsequently banned the operation of such centres within his jurisdiction and thrown out owners of such facilities indicating that it has nothing offer the youth who are pivotal to the future of the region.

“They can operate anywhere but not within my area. We cannot allow such practices to fester on within this area and put the future of children in jeopardy”, he warned while speaking at the Media Festival held at Bolgatanga by The Press Foundation, TPF

A livid Member of Council of State Member indicated that he is willing to partner any investor who will put his or her money in projects that can inure to the benefit of residents pledging his resolve to lease lands for such purposes but indicated that gambling is definitely not part of it.

“I have seized some of their machines and warned them not to come to the area because I will not countenance that. I am ready to release land for development purposes within my area and maybe help in some parts of the region but I won’t allow these Chinese to introduce the future of our wards to gambling which is dangerous”, he explained.

The Former Talensi lawmaker who is resolute in his decision, wants other stakeholders from the region to support this course in ridding the region of such centres in the interest of the growing generation who have become used to such acts to the detriment of their education.
