Coup d’etat is a serious business and not for jokers like Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm and his conspirators, Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has posited.

He disclosed on Accra-based Peace Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com that Ghana has come far for characters like them to want rise up in arms against the government of the day.

“Coup D’etat is a serious business and not for jokers like them. If you want to embark on a coup are these the kind of weapons you want to use and overthrow a government? We have come far in this country and I am not sure Ghanaians will allow such a thing to happen”, he disclosed.

He backed calls for thorough investigations into the matter in order to fish out more persons who hitherto were playing roles in order to facilitate the overthrow the government of the day.

Maverick Politician Kennedy Agyapong has however stated that the chief mastermind and his accomplices are mere jokers considering the kind of armory they were building to embark on the exercise.

He avers that only jokers will believe that such weapons are capable of over throwing a government in present day when appropriate security layers are in place to avert such an occurrence.

“In today’s era of modernization, you want to go and carry out a coup? They are jokers! They are joking and see the equipment they were hoping to use, what will get from it?” he quizzed.

According to him on Net 2 TV, the country has seen several coups but it has not made any difference wondering if the current one would have made if it succeeded.

A joint operation that was to neutralize an elaborate plot targeted at the Presidency, and with the ultimate aim of destabilizing the country led to the arrest of the three after fifteen (15) months of surveillance and gathering of evidence on the activities of the prime suspects and others.

Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm owner of Cidatel Hospital Hospital and his two accomplices – Mr. Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr. Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) were arrested and have been remanded by a court.
