Akim Oda (E/R), July 14, GNA - The Akim Oda Magistrate Court in the Birim Central Municipality on Tuesday, imposed a fine of GH¢100.00 each on Doris Nkrumah, a trader and her son, Felix Asante, a screen printer for assault. Doris and Asante pleaded guilty to assault and disturbing public peace and would each serve a 12-month prison term, if they failed to pay the fine.
Mr Albert Owusu Annor, the trial judge, ordered Asante to additionally pay a compensation of GH¢100.00 to Mrs Agnes Tetteh, the victim. Police Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah said the victim is a trader who lives in the same house with the two convicts at Akim Oda. He said a protracted dispute between Mrs Tetteh and Doris was compounded when on July 3, Doris demolished a toilet structure in the house, which is patronised by the complainant. Inspector Ahenkorah said Asante joined his mother in a quarrel with Mrs Tetteh and in the process beat her up. Mrs Tetteh made a report to the Police leading to the arrest of the convicts. 14 July 10
